This is going to be a pretty nice weekend in Toronto. Not the kind of scorcher you’d expect for August (and probably wish for), but bright with sunshine and temperatures hovering in the mid 20’s. How very civilized.
Speaking of civilized, get a load of this pale pink sipper from Hecht & Bannier, a modern negociant partnership that makes quality wines from around the South of France for very good price points.
It’s no secret to anyone who knows us (or follows us on Instagram) that we love rosé and drink it all year round. But admittedly, there something perfect about a sunny, warm, summer day, and a crisp and bright blush to make you say, “oui.” Courtney returned from Spain about a month ago, where just about everyday, the searing heat of the day was quenched with a refreshing pink sipper, usually paired with salty chips and briny olives (a tradition we have happily adapted here in Toronto).
This is what we’re sipping on this weekend, and we highly recommend you do, as well.
Hecht & Bannier Côtes de Provence Rosé, France 2014
$18.95 Vintages 410035
The pale, ballet slipper pink wine is skillfully shown off in a gorgeously designed bottle of both clear and frosted glass, that’s closed with a glass ampule for added allure. A blend of Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah, this is crisp and fresh with notes of wild strawberry, watermelon and white cherry balanced by a streak of mineral. Dry and refreshingly tart, pair this with cheese plates, mussels in a wild herb broth, or plain, salty chips.
where can I find this lovely French pink wine? Specs?
Hi Alicia,
In Ontario it’s available in Vintages product number #410035. If you are not an LCBO shopper, ask your local merchant if he or she can order it in. It’s delicious!
Cheers!
