What wines are best for parties?

A.

When hosting a large crowd we like to offer a selection of fuller and lighter bodied reds and whites. Especially when we don’t necessarily know what everyone’s wine preferences are, we aim for crowd pleasing favourites.

The idea is to have something that will accommodate most tastes, so even if the exact wine someone drinks isn’t on offer, they can find something reasonable to sip through the evening.

As we get closer to the holiday season and we’re hosting more parties than usual – with bigger crowds than usual – we try to stick with the three “friendlies”: Crowd friendly, budget friendly and food friendly. Essentially, reasonably inexpensive wines that have great structure and go with as many foods as possible.

Here are some of our top party picks – what are yours? Let us know in the comments below!

Prosecco
Inexpensive sparkling, like Cremants

Soave
Sauvignon Blanc
Riesling
Chardonnay

Gamay
Pinot Noir
Côtes du Rhône
Chianti
Merlot
