Prairie Rose is back with another awesome tipple! She’s totally our cocktail crush, so if you haven’t checked out her magnificent blog, Bit by a Fox, you’re missing out on some utterly phenomenal cocktails that are as creative as they are delicious.
Get up close and personal with your inner mixologist, as this autumn elixir requires (an easy-to-make) fig syrup, that not only makes a fun project but you can keep a jar in your fridge and use for other culinary creations … or just keep it on hand for mixing up this cocktail.
Yes, this cocktail requires a smidge more effort than, let’s say, a gin and tonic, but we have faith in you.
2 oz Dark Horse Rye Whiskey
1 oz Fig MISHMISH* Syrup
1 oz Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Italian Amaro
Sparkling Apple Cider
Shake all ingredients except cider over ice. Strain into a cocktail glass. Top with sparkling apple cider
*MISHMISH is a honey-saffron-lemon spice that’s available online. If you just can’t wait to get your MISHMISH, Prairie says you could always make a honey syrup with figs for a reasonable facsimile.
