Thirsty Thursday

Posted by: samy October 2, 2014 No Comments

This week’s Thirsty Thursday features not just one cocktail recipe for your Happy Hour enjoyment – but TWO!

Both are beer cocktails, which clearly, we can not get enough of. And if you try these delicious (and easy to make) recipes, we have a feeling you will be on the beer cocktail bandwagon, too.

Smoke and Mirrors

smoke and mirrorsShaun Layton, the head barman at Vancouver’s L’Abattoir, returns for another guest-starring appearance with his deliciously smokey and spicy elixir. Don’t skip the salt rim – Shaun says that’s what tempers the bite of the heat … and keeps you coming back for more.

  • 30 ml chili infused tequila
  • 15 ml Aperol
  • 10 ml agave nectar
  • 15 ml fresh lime
  • Mirror Pond Pale Ale

Add all ingredients, except beer, in a rocks glass with a half salt rim. Add ice, top with beer and a lime wheel garnish

Whiskey Radler

BLVD_WhiskyRaddler2Taking a spin on the German styled Raddler beer, Justin Taylor, the bar manager at Vancouver’s Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar, gives this cocktail an autumnal twist by adding bourbon and apricot liqueur to locally-brewed wheat ale.

  • 1 oz Jim Beam Bourbon Whiskey
  • 0.5 oz Giffard ‘Abricot du Roussillon’ (Apricot Liqueur)
  • 0.5 oz lemon juice
  • 0.5 oz honey syrup (1 part honey, 1 part hot water)
  • 1 oz grapefruit juice
  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 2 oz R&B Brewing Co. Sun God Wheat Ale
Shake all ingredients, except Sun God Wheat Ale, together with ice. Pour over crushed ice and top with wheat ale. Garnish with fresh lemon peel.
