Earth and Sky Riesling, VQA Niagara on the Lake, 2011
$14.95 LCBO 343350
It’s feeling more like the middle of August right now in Toronto, rather than the start of September. At 41℃ with the humidity, we’re currently under a heat warning – a sticky, sweltering, sweaty heat warning. Well, since in our humble opinion, summer wasn’t overly, summery, we’ll take it. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t craving something cooling to go with this exceptional, late-arriving heat wave.
Earth and Sky Riesling, coming from the Bosc family of Chateau des Charmes, is a pure, crisp riesling with aromas of peach, lime zest, wet stone and that tell-tale petrol note. The palate is fresh and bright with pin-point acid and flavours of lemon-lime, pink grapefruit, mineral and a subtle honeyed note on the finish. Serve well chilled with crab boils, ceviche or grilled pork tenderloin and fruit salsa.
