You’ll notice we’ve been making quite a few changes around here this week – we’ve launched Wine 101 Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays and now, we’re kick-starting our Friday series, Wine for the Weekend.
This weekly entry was inspired by you: we wanted to give you something to grab on the way home from work. Something delicious, reliable, readily available, and perfect for what the weekend may bring.
It’s not coincidental we’re kicking off this series for the start of the Labour Day long weekend. We know plenty of you are heading up to the cottage or planning backyard barbecues and will need plenty of quality drinks for celebrating summer’s last hurrah.
For our inaugural WFTW, may we present to you Trius Rosé. A lovely pink sipper we’ve been enjoying quite a bit this summer, and will likely enjoy a little bit more this weekend.
Trius Rosé, VQA Niagara Peninsula, 2013

Available online, at the winery or in plentiful supply at The Wine Shop, this cheerful pink sipper is a Gamay and Syrah dominated field blend, that pours a pretty pink-orange colour. Bright and fresh on the palate with aromas of red berries and watermelon, the palate is light and crisp and imminently quaffable with red cherry, rhubarb, subtle lime zest and a faint white pepper. Enjoy with in-season corn on the cob, fresh ceviche or spicy cioppino.
