It’s been a while since we last wrote, and we really have to apologize. All the marketing gurus and social media “experts” tell us to blog frequently and engage with our readership, and it seems to have fallen off the wagon in the last few months and we’re sorry because we really like talking to you guys.
Truth be told, we’ve still been writing, but at other sites. While both of us brain storm subject topics and do the research that’s needed for these blogs, nine times out of 10, it’s Erin putting fingers to keyboard, since she’s the one with the writing background, and Courtney’s the economist. Courtney’s certainly written a thing or two in the past, but she enjoys writing about as much as Erin enjoys putting together a budget.
So because Erin’s spent so much time banging on the keyboard at other places on the internet, our beloved blog – where we really get to be real and talk about all kinds of wine, food and entertaining stuff – has suffered a bit of a casualty. So just like any relationship that seems to suffered a wandering eye and neglect, we’re going to put some serious effort into stoking the embers to reignite the flame this blog once enjoyed.
Now, just because we’ve been stepping out on the blog, that’s not to say we haven’t been working hard (though in our business, fun and work are one in the same). We’ve been busy at tastings, visiting Wine Country, and helping organize events. Take a look at some of these pics and you’ll see what we mean. (In the following days and weeks, we’ll be writing a bit more on these activities, so we won’t get into too much detail here).
This year, we would really like to start a few “series” that will be as useful as possible to you. Some of the pieces we have planned will be a regular series on wine and food pairings, taking a look at some of the dishes we make in our own kitchens, or have tried at restaurants, and matching it to wines we think are classic combinations or daring pairings. We also want to expand our monthly What We’re Drinking Now wine review, and take one bottle every week or two that really shines. And we’re getting back to basics: we do several personal and corporate tastings each week, and we are always asked the same questions about decanting, cellaring, cork and screw cap closures … so because so many of you wonder the same thing, we will start posting our answers and thoughts to those burning questions.
Of course, that means if you would like to have any of your wine questions answered, we would be happy to oblige. Just drop us a note, or leave a comment and we will do our best to answer.
We’re looking forward to many fantastic conversations with you this year. So grab a glass, sit back and enjoy!
I always loVe the pairings! Please let me know if you need any help tasting the wines 😉
